Challenges in Management of Cancer with Constraints

Majority of our patients with common cancers hail from rural and semi-urban cities. It is an established fact that fewer
than 10% require specialised technology for their management. Over the three decades of my experiences in
managing cancers at such places various challenges confront us. These need to be identified and with “Optimization &
Ethics” as gold standards they are to be addressed. Few case studies to explain this philosophy will be shared.
Patients with curative intent to be pursued vigorously and those requiring “palliative protocols” managed with caring
till end- of -life as motto. Each one to analyse in their set-up
What should be done and what is being done.
