The Wall That Heals is coming to Clinton Township (con nued from page 1)
set up and take down The Wall, as well as sta to guide visitors around the clock. As planning stages develop, the Township will list a dedicated phone number and website for residents to apply. Financial contribu ons and in-kind dona ons are also needed to help support this community event.
School and youth groups are encouraged to visit The Wall That Heals. Trained sta from VVMF will be on-site to provide free educa onal tours of the exhibits, and ensure a re ec ve atmosphere. Tours can be customized based on ages so visitors can learn about the history of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, hear stories of those who served in Vietnam and learn about the impact of the Vietnam War on America. More informa on about tours will be announced as plans develop.
About The Wall That Heals
The Wall That Heals is transported in a 53-foot trailer. When parked, the trailer opens with exhibits built into its sides, allowing it to serve as a mobile educa on center telling the story of the Vietnam War, The Wall, and this divisive era in American history.
The three-quarter scale replica is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point. Visitors will experience it rising above them as they walk towards the apex, a key feature of the design of The Wall in Washington, D.C. As they do in Washington, those visi ng the Wall That Heals will be able to make name rubbings of individual service member names.

The Wall along with their home of record within the area of a visit. The In-Memory Honor Roll recognizes Vietnam veterans from the local area through VVMF’s In Memory program, which honors veterans who returned home from Vietnam and later died as a result of their service. Also on display are items representative of those left at The Wall in Washington D.C., which tell the story of the Vietnam War, The Wall, and the era surrounding the conflict.
The Wall That Heals 2020 na onal tour is generously sponsored by the United States Automobile Associa on (USAA), which partners with the Truckload Carriers Associa on (TCA) and the trucking industry to transport the displays thousands of miles across the country each year. Since its debut in 1996, The Wall That Heals has been on display in nearly 600 U.S. communi es in addi on to a tour of Ireland and a visit to Canada in 2005.
