SATURDAY, MARCH 2 2:00 – 3:30 P.M. The Journey of Maple Syrup
Stop by our education station to learn how maple syrup is made as we discover the whole process from sap collection to the final step of bottling. Information on the historical origins of maple syrup and its role and evolution in Michigan culture will also be available for table visitors. Try your hand at rolling up maple taffy as we boil down maple syrup and pour it over ice, creating a hardball candy for you to enjoy.

SUNDAY, MARCH 10 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. Fauna of the Forest
Forests play an important role in Michigan’s past and present. We have always depended on them for our own needs, but tons of other species do, too! Learn about some forest-dwelling friends and why forest habitats are so important for them.

SUNDAY, MARCH 17 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. Fossils in Michigan
From extinct corals to extinct mammals Michigan has been found to be a source of a wide range of fossils. Join us at the OAC to learn about the many different kinds of fossils and where you can go fossil hunting to add to your own collection. Guests will also have the opportunity to take home their own fossil cast.
