the rope where you plan to make the cut, so that you prevent the end from fraying.
STEP 1 Tie an Overhand Knot around the rope, leaving both ends of equal length.
STEP 2 Shift the ends to the opposite side and tie another Overhand Knot. Continue
making knots, alternating sides, until you achieve a whipping of the right length.
For variation, start the whipping with a Constrictor Knot and finish with a Reef Knot
(see Chapter 6 for both) for added security.
