MESSAGE FROM OUR
2430 DISTRICT GOVERNOR
KEMAL KETREZ TO US
My Dear Fellows,
Unfortunately, the disaster with fires is continuing in our country and we are living with sad news.
While many news reach us all, there is also a serious pollution of information.
We follow the disaster in our district very closely, noting the vital needs of those forest villages where houses are
lost, and of those officers working to extinguish the fires.
My Dear Fellows,
In Manavgat region, the current state is being followed, and it is reported that there is no need for food, water and
accomodation.
Similar information is received for Osmaniye, Kozan, Silifke and Aydıncık regions.
The latest news is that our members of Manavgat and Adana Clubs are present at the emergency management
units, so we receive reliable information. Our information traffic is also intensive coming from other districts and
Clubs.
It is noted that while there exists no problem for food and drink, the critical issue is keeping these safe due to the
seasonal conditions.
Certainly, as Rotarians, we have no doubt that we will provide maximum benefit to relevant places and people, and
also serve to develop the regions, once the fires are stopped and damages are assessed.
My Dear Fellows,
I would like to bring to your attention the issue that each Club urgently prepares their budgets for financial and in
kind contributions while also being ready to meet the demands that are to be reported.
Our Clubs will be working on voluntary basis to meet those demands that are to be received and identified.
Please remember that the current social media and Whatsapp groups share many messages that create
information pollution. We have to take correct decisions for our country and for our sources.
We have full trust that our valuable Clubs will be using the sources sensibly and correctly, through their Presidents.
I hope to say, soonest possible, that it is over.
With my regards,
M. Kemal Ketrez
