A poem (some would question that) with

He’ll stand and stare as if transfixed
He’ll gaze with eyes glazed by the latest fix. A trolley, a trolley
The aurora borealis in a field in Kent? A dumb waiter – some call it
He loves the country and all that’s there I have longed for
Bathed in false beauty by a psychedelic glare. I have longed for for years.
The parents, too, have time on their hands In a moment of weakness
Though rarely to commune with Nature. He took me one day
They’ll reflect on their reflection in the glass To a furnishers at Waltham
They’ll stand on their heads in their Yoga class And there we did see
They’ll join Weight Watchers and have a ball The ideal trolley for afternoon tea.
Marking their card in the bingo hall. Iodized frame
                                                                                                    Galleried trays and marbleized
Life is empty When we received it flat packed
Life is bare We were somewhat surprised.
If we don’t make time Screw A to B and C to D
To stand and stare. We soon had it ready for afternoon tea.
