Optional Step: As an added measure of safety and security,
many people tie a backup knot onto the standing part with
the left over portion of the working end.
How to tie it:
1. Hold the standing part and your working end above the
knot.
2. Cross the working end over the standing part as illus-
trated in figure 16a.

3. Wrap the working end behind and around to the
front. You’ll see that you’ve created a wrap around the
standing part and the place where the wrap is now laying
looks like the letter “x” as illustrated in figure 16b.
