CHAPTER Collaboration UP AND AWARE - 8

(Interpersonal Relationship)

Beginning:

Two young engineering students are in the news for
their project ‘Prajwal’ which aims at collaborating
with the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs)

of various colonies in Delhi to collect used CFL
bulbs. The two students behind this environment
friendly initiative, plan to provide jobs to youth,
women and disabled individuals by training them
to repair the faulty bulbs. These would be returned
to the RWAs to reuse and all this will be done at a
cost of just ` 1 per bulb.

It is estimated that more than 300 million CFLs end up in landfills in

India each year and these take thousands of years to decompose. Prajwal
hopes to also provide inexpensive bulbs to low income families through
their efforts.
