UP AND AWARE - 8
‘Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working
together is success.’
—Henry Ford
Exercise and Discuss:
The rule to follow in this exercise is: ‘Three then Me’. This means that you need to
wait for your turn to speak by letting three others in the group speak before you get to
speak again.
This is a fast-paced exercise.
Material needed: A3 sheet per group, colour pencils or felt tip pens
Form four groups only. Groups will be named A, B, C and D. Your facilitator will give you
a topic.
Step 1: Brainstorm a list of 10 words on your given topic and write them down
on your sheet using a corner of it (you need to leave space on the sheet as it will be
passed around to other groups to work on). Once you are done, pass the sheet to the
next group (A to B, B to C and so on. The last alphabet group will pass its sheet to
group A).
Step 2: On the next sheet that is passed on to you, read the 10 words and draw a
scene with all 10 items mentioned on the list. DO NOT write anything at this point.
Pass the sheet to the next group (leave space for other groups to work on).
Step 3: On the next sheet that is passed on to you, label all the drawings. DO
NOTHING ELSE. Pass the sheet on.
Step 4: On the next sheet that is passed on to you, check the labels to see if they
are correct. Correct and/or complete the drawings and the labels.
Step 5: Now return the sheet to its original group. Look at your sheet and see how
it has turned out.
