UP AND AWARE - 7
1. Each group will share its answers with the class. Talk about how
everyone in the group thought of the answers and how they worked
together. You can also prepare a PowerPoint presentation if your school
has the facility.
2. Ask the group, whose question you have picked, what it thinks about
your answers.
3. Ask the rest of the class if they would like to add to your group’s
answers.
4. What did you think of this exercise? Are you surprised at some of the
answers that your group came up with?
5. What do you think happens when ideas are shared?
6. How important do you think it is for a group to respect each other’s
thinking in order to come up with creative questions and answers?
‘If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.’
—Albert Einstein
Paired Exercise:
Now that you know how to think of ideas and how to share them, here is one more
exercise to improve your skills. In fact, you can do this on your own and regularly to
sharpen your mind!
Pick any one item, thing or product, for example, a truck, keyboard, light bulb, toy, etc.,
and think of how you can improve upon its design. For example, attaching wheels to a
large plant pot will make it easy to move from a room to a balcony. Or, think of attaching
a clip to a shoelace knot to prevent it from opening up many times in a day.
Explain in words:
• Your choice of item • Your reason for choosing it
• Your design idea • How it will work
