You read about the beautiful moon in the poem ‘Moon So Round
and Yellow’.
Now, let us make our own model of the moon using
papier-mâché technique.
You will need:
• a round balloon
• old newspapers
• flour
• water
• a paintbrush and some paints
• a needle
What to do:
• Blow air into the balloon until
you get a round shape.
• Tear pieces of newspaper into small strips.
• Take a bowl and mix ½ cup flour and ½ cup water to get a mixture.
• Dip pieces of newspaper into the mixture and cover the whole
balloon with it.
• Keep your balloon aside to dry.
• Once it is dry, dip your paintbrush into the flour mix and apply
it over the first layer.
• Now, paste more newspaper strips on the balloon and let it dry.
• Do the previous step at least 7–8 times.
• Then, paint your moon in light grey colour. You can use a pen
to draw some craters on it.
Your papier-mâché moon is ready!
