Literature of India
Rabindranath Tagore was the first and only Indian to win the Nobel
Prize in Literature. Express your views about his poem ‘Where the Mind
is Without Fear’. It was written when India was under British colonial
rule, and it occupies a special place in pre-independence literature.
Get into groups of four. Each group should do some research and
decide among themselves to pick one author/poet whose poetry or
prose embodies the Indian independence movement. Each group
should read some of the works of their chosen writer. Then, one
representative from each group could recite a poem, speech or a prose
excerpt of that writer in the class.
