statements are “Ann, we haven’t heard from you yet. What are your thoughts?” or “Thanks for sharing, John,
but we need to hear from others also.” To someone off topic, “I’m not sure how your comments fit our
discussion.” One should avoid comments that create a defensive reaction, such as “You are way off topic.”
