YELLOW DELICATE CAKE

1 1/4 C. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 C. butter 1 tsp. Vanilla
2/3 C. milk 1/4 tsp. salt
2 C. pastry flour 3 eggs
Cream butter and sugar. Add milk, then flour siftedwith the baking powder and salt.
Add vanilla. Add eggs (unbeaten) 1 at a time and beat each one thoroughly into the mixture.
Bake for 45 minutes at 375°.
WALNUT APPLESAUCE CAKE

1 pkg. white cake mix 1/2 tsp. powdered cloves
1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 C. applesauce
1 tsp. cinnamon 1 C. finely chopped walnuts
1/4 tsp. nutmeg 3/4 C. seedless raisins
Grease, then line bottoms of two 8x1¼” layer pans with wax paper. Put cake mix in
bowl, add soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Now, add applesauce in place of liquid called
for in cake mix directions. Mix well. Now, stir in nuts and raisins. Put mix in pans and bake
for 25 minutes at 375°. Cool in pans on racks for 10 minutes. Remove cakes and peel off
paper.
APPLE CAKE

1/2 C. Crisco 1 1/2 C. flour
1 C. sugar 1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs, beaten 1/2 tsp. salt
2 C. apples, cut up fine 1/4 C. cherries, drain and cut
1/2 C. walnuts
Cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Add flour. Fold in apples and walnuts. Spread in
cake pan and sprinkle mixture of cinnamon and sugar on top. Now spread cut up cherries on
top of sugar and cinnamon. Bake for 45 minutes at 350°.
The cherries can also be put in the cake instead of on top.
