User Administrator
In computing, a user is a person who uses a computer’s objects resources or internet service.
A user will have a user account that identifies the user by a username. The username can be
recognizing even with the uid.
To log on to a system, a user is required to authenticate himself with a password for the purpose of
accounting, security, logging and resource management.
Unix/Linux is multi user and multi tasking OS
Redhat Linux uses User Private Group (UPG)
Scheme: -
User always get created with primary group
One Primary Group per User
We create the user account the user automatically creates own group with same
name.
When a user is created in Linux: --
home directory (/home/username)
mail account (/var/spool/mail/username)
Note: mail accounts can be use if mail server is working.

Types of Users
System Users Normal Users
UID 0-999 UID 1000-60000
O.S can understand user accounts with ID values, can’t identified with names.
The ID value assign to the user the ID called UId and ID assign to the group then the ID value called
GID.
The user’s home directory default created at “/home” directory and their mail account created at
“/var/spool/mail” location.
In Linux 2 types users and groups are available
1. Primary User
2. Secondary User
3. Primary Group
4. Secondary Group
