the agent. The gun is the instrument)

Normally, we construct the passive with be + V3 (Past Participle) , it is also

Possible (in formal language) to use get+ V3 (Past Participle)

For example :

▪ England were beaten by France (be + Past Participle)
▪ England got beaten by France (get + Past Participle)
