Page 71 - Reflections of you 8-12
P. 71
A letter to myself,
I expect that you will have graduated university by now. It’s honestly really hard to imagine myself beyond high-
school, let alone an adult who pays her own rent. Still, I’m sure you’re handling things as best as one can.
Me? I’m doing great. Just a little worried about things which will be the least of my concerns by then. It would be so
simple if you could just write me back and give me some pointers, but that would take away everything that made
the choice so special. Plus, that’s not how things work anyways.
I wonder if you’ve got a job that you will pursue for a long time, or if you’re studying for a higher degree. How
different do you and I look? I bet you can drive cars now. Right? Can you watch horror movies alone now, or has is
gotten more horrifying now that you live alone? Do you have a pet? I guess I’ll have to wait another ten years to find
out.
Is it still mandatory for people to wear masks outside, or is covid-19 all history now? The year 2031. It just sounds so
far, I’m not sure what to expect. Right now, even the IGCSE exam that I have in three days feel quite far away. This
reminds me that I’ll have to finish the letter soon so I could study for the exam.
It gives me so much motivation to imagine that you are very satisfied with the life you have, all thanks to me working
hard now. Hopefully by the time I am you, I will have made so many great memories with the people, some of whom
I haven’t even met.
Lastly, always remember that even if you haven’t yet fulfilled the goals I have now or set along the way....
I just hope you stay happy and healthy both physically and mentally.
Lots of love,
Misheel
