Teenage Employment
Nowadays, teenagers work less and less as time passes because of the abundance and
knowledge-worth increase. As knowledge is vital, experience is as crucial too, considering the fact
that it would make them more practical in life. Also, a teenage employment contract requires
parental consent. There are two sides to a teenager doing a job. From one perspective, they have
even less time to self-study, for extracurricular activities, and it doesn’t give those necessary skills
or experience. On the contrary, they gain the experience of working from an early age which helps
them get employed afterward. There are many advantages to teenage employment.
Firstly, they will have more recognition of responsibility,
which means they will take responsibility better than teenagers who don’t work. Secondly, there is
a statistic that shows teenagers who work less than 15 hours a week have better academic
performance than those who don’t work at all. Moreover, it helps them understand the importance
of money and spend it in a clever way. There are also some disadvantages to teen-working for
minors.
They could feel overly stressed and burned out
when they’re not exactly ready to take responsibility and face the consequences of their action.
Secondly, there would be less free time for them overall which could lead to making them feel like
they’re already becoming adults too soon. Thirdly, if they work more than 15 hours a week, their
grades could get lower than those who never work or work less. Just as importantly, instead of
learning to control their finance cleverly, they could take up bad habits such as smoking cigarettes
and drinking alcohol with the money they got.
After all, teenage employment has twain its benefits and disadvantages that differ depending on
the teenager. Also, if a teenager is working, they should not work for decades, or too little.
