Just then, a large octopus swam into
their path. Waving its tentacles, it spoke in a
rapid language. The Yak-Yak on Claudia’s wrist glowed and

translated the octopus talk. “Turn back! There’s danger
ahead!”

“What danger?” asked Craig in alarm.

Before the octopus could answer, a
parade of colorful ?sh swam by. Pushing aside
the octopus, who angrily inked and vanished,
the ?sh eagerly greeted the visitors and offered
to show them around. Surprisingly, the ?sh had
once been people living in the city, and some of them
still had human faces!

Craig and Claudia were wondering how the citizens of Venice had been
turned into ?sh when they passed by a large archway covered with beautiful carvings.
The perfect place to explore!

Immediately, the Travel Bug ?icked its wings, and the Bubble split in half and
shrunk until each kid had their own air bubble for breathing.

Then the three of them swam through the arch into a hall ?lled with
columns and more carvings. One golden carving of a man’s face
with long pointed ears looked at them and spoke!

“Welcome,” it said. “I am the Wish Master. Would
you like to make a wish? If you’re not sure what

          you want, look over there.”

                                                                                                           33
