Captain Feather-Cap quickly reached
in and greedily grabbed a handful of gold coins.
“It’s all ours!” the monkeys cheered and they began
dragging the chest out of the cave.
“What about us?” called Craig. “That’s our
treasure too!”
“Sorry,” said the grinning captain.
“We found it ?rst.”
Claudia and Craig couldn’t believe they
had been tricked into trusting the monkeys and didn’t
know what to do.
Suddenly, there was a loud rumbling sound and
the cave began to shake. Dust and rocks fell down
everywhere, including in front of the entrance.
“Get out!” Feather-Cap shouted to his crew.
The monkeys abandoned the chest and squeezed out of
the cave just before the last stone dropped, sealing the opening.
“Oh no! We’re trapped!” Claudia cried. “What can we do?”
Craig climbed onto the chest and looked up through an opening high above them.
He could see the sun—there was a way out!
Just then, they heard a strange sound—
like hundreds of coins clinking together.
Craig jumped off the chest as the lid began
to open and shut by itself—it was talking!
The Yak-Yak instantly glowed
blue and translated: “Who are
you and what are you
doing here?”
