“I tried to tell you,” it whispered. “That Wish Master is
dangerous. His mirror is a trick! It doesn’t re?ect the heart’s
desire, but his desire—to sink beautiful cities and change their people
into sea creatures so their art and culture cannot be shared with the rest
of the world. He did this same thing to my city of Atlantis!”

“Can’t you just wish everything back?” asked Claudia.

The octopus said it was too late. Each citizen had already made at least three
wishes. After three, they can never wish anything back to its original form!

“Oh no!” exclaimed Claudia. Craig had already made two wishes! If he made

one more he would never be a kid again! What could she do?

“You must discover what true happiness is,” said the octopus, “then wish
for it. But hurry!” It pointed a tentacle toward Craig. He was looking into the mirror

again and about to make his third wish!

Claudia quickly swam toward the mirror and wondered… did she know what true
happiness was?

She reached the Mirror of “Happiness” and couldn’t help but look into it. She

saw herself as a beautiful angel?sh swimming beside Fishy Craig and felt the need to
wish for it. But out of the corner of her eye, Claudia spotted the Travel

Bug waving “NO” to her and she instantly realized the truth—this

was a trick!

Claudia turned away from the mirror and shouted at the Wish

Master, “I wish for Craig to be changed back into a boy because
true happiness is not about getting what you want when you
want it. It’s being happy with what you have and who you
are!”

                                                                                                           35
