This year has been a very active and most interesting one for the
wives and widows of Plymouth Rotarians and the wives of Northville
and Canton Rotarians. The Theme for 1 9 8 2 - 1 9 8 3 was "FRIENDS &
NEIGHBORS" and will continue on in 19 84. The September Brunch at
t he Colony Farms Meeting House was a huge success. Rotary Anns
from Plymouth, Northville and Canton all attended.
Our Pie Sale which was held at the Fall Festival during the Rotary
Barbecue netted $1, 6 O O which was disbursed to numerous charities.
Activities this past year included a craft project, color analyst &
f ashion coordinator, art appreciation presented by our own Anna
VanHull and a tour of Northville Historic Mill Race Village with a
luncheon at Genitti's Hole-In -The -Wall. We had the use of the
double decker bus to and from Northville which was enjoyed by all.
Our final activity was the annual picnic at Lou and Gail LaRiche's
beautiful home. Some special events of our 1982-1983 year are
as follows:
February 1 2, 198 3 - On request we presented a VALENTINE'S DAY
program at a regular Plymouth Rotary meeting. The program
included special songs and liberal fines extracted from our
husbands for the benefit of the Plymouth Rotary Foundation.
May 6, 198 3 - Pres. Rita and V.P. Carol were honored by an
invitation to share a panel about Rotary Anns of Plymouth at the
District 640 Conference in Traverse City. In addition to
portraying the serious reatures of Rotary Anns, Carol again
demonstrated her ability to levy fines, this time for Rotary
International Foundation with much success. Liz Ellison of
Northville was named Honorary Member of our club.
May 1 3, 1983 - Rotary Anns were honored by our Rotarians for our
"3 5th Anniversary" which fell the day before.
Our dues paying members number over sixty. Members are invited
to attend functions by way of our newsletter entitled the "Rotary
Ann Reminder" which is now being sent out along with the Rotary
"Broadcaster". A special mailing is sent to all our widows. The
philosophy of Plymouth Rotary Anns may be summarized as follows:
WE ARE PROUD TO BE THE WIVES OF ROT ARIANS AND WE
ARE EAGER TO SUPPORT OUR HUSBANDS IN STRIVING TO
PROMOTE THE IDEALS OF ROTARY. WE ENJOY SHARING IN
THE FRIENDSHIP AND EFFORTS THAT IT TAKES TO ACHIEVE
A SUCCESSFUL ROT ARY CLUB.
We envision a great 1 9 8 3-198 4. LETS ALL JOIN IN!
