LEE E. FELDKAMP, M.D.
Incoming President
Born on a Centenial Farm near Ypsilanti, Lee spent his early life
between Saline and Ypsilanti, graduating from Ypsilanti High School
fifty years ago, and graduating from the University of Michigan
Medical School in 1940. Throughout high school and college he was
active in music and was a member of the University of Michigan
Marching and Concert Bands during his undergraduate years.
After graduation his hospital training ensued at the Grace Hospital in
-Detroit, followed by a tour on active duty as a Medical Reserve
Officer, serving both in the United States and European Theater !until
returning to civilian life as a Major in 1 9 4 6. He was a recipient of
the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service.
Since 1946 Lee has been in Family Practice, beginning in Detroit and
moving his office to Plymouth in 195 4. He is a Charter Fellow of the
American Academy of Family Physicians and has served as
President of the Michigan chapter and Director of the national
organization. He is a member of the Wayne, Washtenaw and
Michigan State Medical Societies, and has served in many roles in
their activities, and is a member of the Staff of St. Joseph Mercy
Hospital, Ann Arbor.
In the community Lee served as Health Officer for a number of years
and organized Medical Civil Defense activities and early immunization
programs for polio, measles, rubella and influenza for the community.
He is a member of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, Our Lady of
Good Counsel Church, and the Knights of Columbus.
Married to Rita, President of the Rotary Anns, the two share ten
children and eleven grandchildren. Hobbies they mutually enjoy
include motor -homing, photography, gardening and if any time is left
available, Lee enjoys woodworking. A member of Plymouth Rotary
since 1966, he completes seventeen years of perfect attendance
this month, is a Paul Harris Fellow, and a Past-President of the
Plymouth Rotary Foundation.
