    2. ALWAYS BE PREPARED TO TALK

Periods of silence during a radio broadcast are called Dead Air. To avoid Dead Air, presenters
need to be prepared to continuously drive discussion, ask questions and contribute to
    conversation.

Knowing your subject matter extremely well is best way of eliminating moments of silence during
    a broadcast.

The more you know about the discussion topic the better chance you have to come up with
unscripted follow-up questions when the conversation slows down.

    3. BROADCAST NEWS THAT OTHER NEWS AGENCIES WANT TO REPUBLISH

Always try and broadcast unique content that has newspapers or other media outlets promote or
credit your station when they republish it on their platforms.

When other media outlets republish your content, industry protocol in most cases has them
crediting your radio station as the source of the information.

This is great way of tapping into the audiences of other media outlets and build awareness of the
great radio content your station is producing.
