Indiana Private Investigator Licensing Dodges Another Bullet
Today (02/05/2019) we dodged another bullet in Indiana, our government continues to question the importance of our
professional licensing. Shout out to Dean Beers and Gluth for always jumping in and assisting. NCISS also played a critical
role in 2015 when we almost lost our licensing. Also, thank you, Tim Gilbert for jumping in on this one.

We have to continue to work together and express the importance of membership for the state associations and
        individuals.

In Indianapolis today, a handful of PIs from around the state were in the Capitol building when the Select Committee on
Government Reduction voted to retain licensing for private investigators and security guards, which had been slated for
repeal in House Bill 1269. The committee accepted language generated by members of our state associations that saved
licensing, with the size of the licensing board reduced from (7) seven to (5) five members. There were other licensed
occupations and professions on "the chopping block," but all were saved with some adjustments similar to ours. A shout
out to the following for attending today's committee hearing and their work leading up to today's event: David Shelton,
Kim Ridding, George Gergis, Brandy Lord and Chris Ridding. A special thank you to committee member Rep. Matt
Hostettler, who introduced that part of an amendment to 1269 which saved our licensing.

Many of you may recall efforts in 2011 and 2015 to eliminate the licensing of professional investigators and security
guard companies. Once again, our state associations worked together in countering those efforts, the spirit of
        collaboration and professionalism prevailing.

Be vigilant colleagues. The anti-regulatory monster has a voracious appetite, and he took bites out of several boards this
        year. He will be back.

Former employees sue private investigation firm, CEO over unpaid wages
Trustify, and services like Trustify, are detrimental to both the consumer and professional investigator. It is always best
for the potential client, or their attorney, to contact a professional investigator directly. If you have any questions about
this concern - please contact the NCISS administrative office.
