recording.
Nilo: At first we talked about
hiring a studio at the west
coast of Sweden owned by
King Diamond guitar player
Andy LaRocque to find the
right Hellspray sound.
Mattias: But we ended up
recording most of the tracks
in our own studio such as
drums, bass, most of the
rhythm guitar parts and
vocals. Guitar solo and
some rhythm overdubs
were recorded in my home
studio. We wanted to catch
the naked evil metal Hell-
spray sound so there was a
lot of experimenting during
the recording. We tried out
some digital gear as well as
real tube amps and speaker
cabinets for the guitars.
The bass is always divided
into two tracks where one
of them is heavily distorted
and crunched.
Anders: Like Mattias said
we ended up producing
and recording the album
ourselves at our rehearsal/
recording studio. Mattias is
the one behind the controls
and is the “main producer”
so to say. For me, the
writing process has been
different for almost every
song on the album. From
my part it has been all from
writing lyrics and melodies
to demo songs that were
recorded before I joined
the band, to putting songs
