EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
o PIP should support improvement; the goal is to provide the employee with the feedback,
tools, and resources needed to be successful (it is not a RIP).
SENDING AN EMPLOYEE HOME
**In all cases of sending an employee home, please work with you HRBP.**
WHEN TO SEND AN EMPLOYEE HOME WITHOUT PAY
• An employee shows up to work and is not in proper uniform
• The employee is displaying a bad attitude or is having a bad day and does not improve after
addressing this with the employee
• If you have reasonable suspicion that the employee is under the influence while at work (See
guidelines for Reasonable Suspicion)
• If you become aware that the employee has a highly communicable condition (ex. Bed bugs,
lice)
WHEN TO SEND AN EMPLOYEE HOME WITH PAY
• If an employee is put on an Administrative Leave pending the outcome of an HR or AP investigation
(contact HRBP and/or DM before doing this unless there is an immediate safety concern)
TERMINATION LETTERS
WHEN TO SEND A TERMINATION LETTER
• Termination Letters sent to involuntarily terminated employees.
• Termination Letters also need to be sent to voluntarily terminated employees in these specific
situations:
o Unable to return to work after a leave of absences (work with your HRBP)
o No call, no show (NCNS) for two consecutive work days.
WHO WILL SEND THE TERMINATION LETTER
• For involuntary terminations:
o The manager will send out the letter to the affected employee
o The manager will send a copy to HR Verify
