VOLUNTEERS – TRADITIONAL VS. REQUIRED
TRADITIONAL VOLUNTEER
• Does not do anything an employee would normally be assigned
• This role is not to provide services that would normally fill in a payroll space
• Examples of traditional volunteer options in retail:
o Alphabetizing book section
o Greeting customers
o Helping customers out to their cars with heavy items
o Anything that is not part of a regular employee's job duties
o Nice to have, but not required, tasks
REQUIRED (COURT-REFERRED) VOLUNTEERS
• The scope of work broadened to include many functions an employee would also do. Excluding the
following:
o May not work with the registers or cash flow
o May not price merchandise
o May not process items
• All volunteers are distinguished in the stores by wearing a volunteer apron.
For additional information, refer to "Volunteer Services" on the Intranet
INTERNAL CANDIDATES
When a position opens, a hiring manager may make a strategic realignment within their team without
opening a new job requisition. The hiring manager would then only need to open a new requisition for
the position requiring backfill. Strategic realignment is considered for lateral, same position moves.
Promotions would require an interview process.
INTERNAL APPLICANTS FOR THE SAME POSITION AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION OR
DEPARTMENT (EX. GM TO GM, ASM TO ASM)
• The employee applies through UltiPro Recruiting Gateway
• Recruiter forwards eligible candidates to the hiring manager (HM) (see the Employee Development
section of Employee Handbook for eligibility criteria)
