                      Patricia DickensonisLeadFacultyofTeacherEducationatNationalUniversityinSanJose.She
                   completedherdoctoralworkattheUniversityofSouthernCaliforniainEducationalPsychology.Her
                   researchfocusesonthesocioculturalaspectsofmotivation,engagement,andinstruction,withinmath-
                   ematics,technologyandstandard-basedteachingpracticesofLatinoEnglishlearners.Dr.Dickenson
                   beganteachingfortheLosAngelesUnifiedSchoolDistrict.Shehastaughtelementary,middleand
                   highschool.InadditiontoclassroomteachingDr.DickensonwasaMathematicsCoach.Shebelieves
                   stronglyintheuseofalternativeassessmentssuchasperformancebasedtasks,project-basedlearningand
