國立中山大學民國 68 年 7 月獲核成立籌
備處，10 月校址定於西子灣，69 年正式
建校。校地前身為中正國小，中山師生初
期使用小學的教室與桌椅，理學院大榕樹
也自中正國小時代保留至今。由於當時與
動物園毗鄰而居，舊時校園內不時有獅
吼、象鳴相伴，為老中山人津津樂道的回
憶之一。

The provisional offi ce of National Sun Yat-sen University was

founded in July 1979 and later in October, the Sizihwan Bay

was chosen as the future location of the University, offi cially
established in 1980. Before the campus was built, the
students and teachers of the University used the classrooms
of Jhong-Jheng Elementary School. The large banyan
tree by the College of Science has been growing from that
era until now. Because in those times the University was
neighboring with Shoushan ZOO, the roars of lions and
cries of birds during classes are a common memory of the
students back then.
