Dear Dr. Bent-Harley:

As an FDHA scholarship recipient, I want to thank you for this incredible gift. It has
significantly lessened my financial stress. This aid has allowed me to purchase resources,
textbooks, and helped to cover entrance fees for several different exams.

It is such a great feeling to know that people such as yourself are making a such huge different in
so many student’s lives. This scholarship has inspired me to give back to students who pursing
medicine.

I was born and raised in Alpharetta and attended the University of Georgia where I majored in
biology and psychology. In the past year I have decided to pursue a career in emergency
medicine. This specialty greatly interests me because of the large medical knowledge required to
be a successful physician and because of the ways that you get to touch people’s lives in such an
acute setting.

I believe that Morehouse School of Medicine has prepared me in ways that I could not have
imagined when I first started school – academically, socially, and culturally. I am confident that
I have the necessary tools to become the physician that I want to be. This scholarship has not
only helped financially, but also showed me another outlet through which I can give back.
