The maximum combined stress (in MPa) with a maximum stress of 48.319 MPa.
Figure 21 combined stress
After applying the static analysis on the frame, the team decided to apply the static torsion
test in order to make sure that the frame is safe even in more extreme conditions. The
method used to calculate the forces and the analysis procedure are taken from the Formula
Student SAE, which it depends on extreme conditions of taking the turns in the track at
high speeds and considering the conditions in which there is a bump on the track. The
method used to calculate the force are as follow:
1- Multiply the total weight of the car in 3. (1)
W = weight, N.
m = mass, kg.
g = 9.81 m/s2
W = m*g*3
W = 225*9.81*3
W = 6621.75 N
2- Taking the weight of the front side of the car.
Assumed to have weight distribution of 40%-60% (front-rear).
F = 0.4*W/2 (2)
Divided by 2 because we have two points where the force will be applied on the
front section.
F = 6621.75*0.4/2
F = 1324.35 N Rounded up to 1500 N.
