Wilkins Servis Gift to W.S.H.S.
A group of students smile their appreciation as Mr. Russel! hands over to
Mr. F. H. R. Cafferky a Wilkins Servis Superheat Washing Machine for use by
Home Science Classes.
Tuesday, July 18, was an important occasion at the school, particularly by
its home science students.
A welcome was extended to Mr. W. Russell, company representative of
Wilkins Servis Washing Machines (Aust.) Pty. Ltd., and Mrs. B. Hersant. one
of the company’s demonstrators.
Two hundred and eighty girls at the school receive instruction in home
science. Training in the care and operation of modern washing machines
commences in the sub-junior year.
A large number of girls showed keen interest in the demonstration given
by Mrs. Hersant. The machine represents one more step towards bringing the
home science section of the school completely up to date with modern equipment.
Girls studying home science are now able to receive up-to-the-minute
instruction in the handling of the most applicances found in the modern
household.
