Projects undertaken by the club in the term '68-'69 included the erection
of the school sign which now stands above the front entrance to the school.
This task, and the building of the seat around the fig tree in the front of the
school, proved to be very worthwhile.
Assistance was given to the Tamil High School in Singapore, which urgently
required teaching aids and supplies of food and vitamin tablets. On three
occasions members visited the homes of old age and invalid pensioners and
helped wherever possible.
A district conference held at Murgon earlier in the year saw a fair number
of our members billeted in homes at Murgon, where an enjoyable time was
had by all.
In order to raise funds for the above projects and many others, record
hops and car washes were run.
On June 29th this year the Change-Over Night was held successfully, when
the parents and guests who attended the changing over of offices to the new
members were able to see why Interact is worthwhile having in the school.
When our new President. Anthony Kahler, took office, he immediately
began the construction of the trellis surrounding the incinerator. In this he
was helped by Denise Scarborough, the committee leader of the School and
Community section, who also organised the selling of house ribbons for the
Athletics Carnival. The other club members helped during the August holidays
to finish this project quickly, and thanks go to those who helped start the
'69-70 year off with such enthusiasm. Thanks must go also to Mr. Guy and
Mr. Hall for their advice and co-operation.
