Q&A
Are wine and beer a safer option compared to whiskey in terms
of developing fatty liver?
It doesn’t matter which type of alcohol beverages is consumed, as long as
the person consumes > 14 units per week or > 5 units during a single
drinking session, liver damage can occur.
Consuming alcohol for patients already diagnosed with hardening of liver
(liver cirrhosis) is highly discouraged as it increases damage to liver and
increases the risk of getting liver cancer.
Is it beneficial and safe to consume liver supplements for a
healthy person?
The current evidences are not strong enough to recommend it and hence
most of the developed guidelines do not recommend for liver
supplements. For healthy person, there’s no need to take any supplement
for liver health. In terms of fatty liver, the key is diet, exercise and
maintain healthy weight.
Prior to taking any supplements, it is recommended for you to discuss
with your doctor and decide whether it is necessary to do so.

check his/her liver function test and ultrasound of the
