Housekeeping role in preventing infectious disease outbreaks (Cont.)
By following a step-by-step cleaning procedure, you and
your team can reduce the spread of infectious diseases. Here
are some best practices to consider:
➢ Start with cleaner areas. If you begin cleaning dirtier areas,
you’re more likely to spread microorganisms.
➢ Clean from high to low. To prevent dirt and microorganisms
from falling onto cleaned areas, start cleaning from top down
(ceiling to floor).
➢ Prioritize bodily fluids and blood spills. Clean blood and
body fluid if present.
➢ Identify high-touch areas. Clean as if all objects are
contaminated objects.
➢ Work in a clockwise manner. To avoid missing surface
areas, clean in a clockwise rotation around the room.
