Housekeeping role in preventing infectious disease outbreaks (Cont.)
Train your housekeeping staff
Another important step is to train your housekeeping staff on how to prevent
and manage infectious disease outbreaks onboard. The housekeeping staff
should be aware of the signs and symptoms of common infections, such as
COVID-19, flu, or norovirus, and how to report them. They should also know
how to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and how to dispose of them
safely. Moreover, they should be trained on how to perform proper hand
hygiene, cleaning, and disinfection of the premises and equipment.
Communicate with your guests
You also need to communicate with your guests about the steps you are
taking to prevent infectious disease outbreaks onboard.
