                    Pits and plasmodesmata

            o  Most cells have thin areas in the primary walls (no secondary wall layer), Which have

                small  pores  through  which  strands  of  cytoplasm  (plasmodesmata)  connect  the

                protoplasm of one cell with that of the adjacent cell.


            o  Plasmodesmata aid in the movement of materials and transmit stimuli.
