Preparation of Volatile Oils

*Generally, the method used in the preparation of the volatile oil depends on the
condition of the plant materials

*For distillation method, there are three types:

1- Water distillation (for dry plant material e.g. turpentine oil)

2- Water-steam distillation (for dried or fresh material

e.g. clove)

3- Steam distillation (for fresh plant materials e.g. peppermint oil)
