1. Course Aims: This course enables the students to:

1. Gain an understanding of the chemistry volatile oils, resins and resin combinations,

carbohydrates, glycosides, and bitters principles.

2. Have the skills to isolate, purify, identify, and/or analyze volatile oils, resins and resin

combinations, carbohydrates, glycosides, and bitters principles from their respective

sources.

3. Know the various pharmacological actions and their medicinal uses of volatile oils,

resins and resin combinations, carbohydrates, glycosides, and bitters principles.

4. Be aware of their clinical applications that will be correlated with various clinical

analyses of the previous plant constituents.
