This is accumulated in countless number on beds of oceans and lakes during

geological times
Composition :- Pure SiO2

86% silica, 5% sodium,
3% magnesium and 2% iron

-Adhere to skin, not dissolve in any acid except (HF)
Shape :- Discoid structure ىصرق & or pinnate form

Uses of Kieselguhr:-
1-Filter aid for oil and syrups purification (porous) & microbial filter (Berkefeld
filter)
2- As sound and heat insulator 3- Face powder (as it adheres to skin)

4- Manufacturing of soap, toothpaste (abrasive) and polishing powder
5- Manufacturing of dynamite
(Absorbs Nitroglycerine render it safer for handling)

Purified hydrated Mg silicate

-Powder Floats on water surface
-Shape: - transparent plate with sharp laminated edges
-Uses: - (no adsorption power as kaolin)
1-Filter aid for cloudy fluids 2- Production of anti-rash forms
3-Coating of pills and tablets to prevent Adhesion 4-lubricant for sport
