6.8. BOSUN WEEKLY/TWO WEEKLY CHECK LIST
Duty Bosun to do the following checks and record findings in the vessel deck log:

• Check for oil and coolant leaks on both engines.
• Check both engine oil levels, and add oil if necessary (15W40). Record amount added in engine
log.
• Check gearbox oil levels, and add oil if necessary (SAE40). Record amount added in engine log.
• Check both engine coolant levels, and add coolant if necessary. Record amount added in engine
log.

• Check oil level of the power steering system, and add recommended oil if necessary. Record
amount added in engine log.
• Check Oil level of the hydraulic power trim tabs, and add recommended oil if necessary. Record
amount added in engine log.
• Check window washer water, and fill if necessary.
• Check Freshwater tank level, and fill if necessary.
• Check fuel levels on board, min state of readiness is 800 l/tank. Fill when necessary. Record amount
added in engine log.

6.9. BOSUN QUARTERLY EQUIPMENT CHECKS
Duty Bosun to do the following checks and recorded findings in the vessel deck log:

• Cardan shaft bearings x 2 (between engine and gearbox) are to be greased with wheel bearing
grease.
• Plummer block bearings fitted to the front of each engine need greasing with wheel bearing
grease.
• Rudder bearing post housings need to be greased with a waterproof grease.

6.10. ORC 140 ANCHORING

Required PPE

• Lifejacket.
• Crew deck safety lanyard.
• Minimum number of crew: 2.

Anchor Deployment
Coxswain to establish water depth and brief crew.
