     OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH
               1.  Clinician
               The duties of the OHN may include first aid and emergency response,
               along  with  the  administration  of  medications  and  treatments  as
               prescribed  or  authorized  by  a  duly  licensed  practitioner  authorized
               under the laws of his or her respective state of practice. The role of the
               OHN may also include the supervision and teaching of other personnel
               in the performance of any of the above acts.
               2.  Health promotion specialist
               As a health promotion specialist, the occupational health nurse (OHN)
               participates in the development and management of a multidimensional,
               broad-range  health-  promotion  program  that  supports  the  business
               objectives of the organization. Health promotion and illness and injury
               prevention is a function that the OHN performs along a continuum for
               the worker population.
               3.  Manager
               In some cases, the occupational health nurse may act as the director of
               the  multidisciplinary  occupational  health  team,  coordinating  and
               planning  the  work  of  other  occupational  health  professionals.  The
               occupational  health  nurse  supervisor  may  have  management  duty
               regarding the entire of the occupational health team or the nursing staff
               or management responsibility for particular programs.
               4.  Coordinator
               The occupational health nurse acting as a coordinator can draw together
               all  of  the  professionals  involved  in  the  occupational  health  team.  In
               numerous occurrences the nurse will be the main individual in the team
               who is permanently employed by the enterprise or present on a specific
               site. Subsequently, they have an extraordinary position and have access
               to important data that can be used to shape and direct the occupational
               health program.
