Goal: Provide the community with nurse graduate who are equipped
with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to provide health care
during disasters
Intended Learning Objectives of Course (ILOs)
a. Knowledge and Understanding:
1. Define disaster/ disaster nursing
2. State the different types of disasters
3. Name factors contributing to disasters
4. Identify the objective of disaster nursing.
5. Identify level of disaster management.
b. Intellectual Skills:
1. Demonstrate the ability to prepare, implement, and evaluate the
situation in disaster.
2. Apply the principles of disaster management
3. Discuss the role of the nurse in each phase of disaster management.
c. Professional and Practical Skills
1. Provide health education to individuals, families, and other specific
groups within the community about how to cope after disaster
2. Apply principles of communication and interviewing
3. Apply different health projects either in classroom or in clinical
settings about psychological condition aftermath
4. Write a family centered plan of care based on identified needs and
problems of each family member in the aftermath of disaster
5. Conduct the problem solving techniques to overcome any Psycho-
social problem in the aftermath of disaster
6. Provide ethical principles to community health nursing in disaster
management
d. General and Transferable Skills:
1. Use ethical consideration when dealing with different individuals in
disaster.
2. Demonstrate/Appreciate the team work involving the individuals as
an important care partner
