HEALTH SYSTEM IN EGYPT



                                   Evaluation of PHC services in Egypt

                Accreditation program: is a form of process by which an authorized
                   health  body  assesses  and  recognizes  that  health  care  organization
                   meets the predetermined standards designed to improve the quality

                   of care.

                Why accreditation?
                   1- Stimulate the improvement of care.


                   2- Reduce unnecessary costs, increase efficiency.
                   3-Provide credential for education, internships.

                   4- Strengths community confidence in health care facilities.

                   5-Develop  a  system  for  continuous  improvement  of  services  where
                   facilities  play  an  important  role  in  monitoring,  improve  their

                   performance.

               The program started in three governorates namely Alexandria, Menofia
               and Sohage, and then extended to include Suze and Qena.



               Indicators used to monitor the progress of PHC:

                      Indicators: they are variables help to measure changes.

                      Uses of indicators:

                      1-  Marker of progress.
                      2-  Motivate people to action

                      3-  Stimulate actions

                      4-  Force policy makers and mangers to rethink.

                      5-  Monitor the progress.

                      6-  Monitor health program at different levels.


               Categories of indicators:

                      1.  Health policy indicators:

                            Resource allocation.
                            Degree of equity.

                             Community involvement.
