Advantages for implementation of health sector reform:

1- For individuals: it improves and promote health standard.

2- For physician: it ensures the development of scientific level and gain
new skills through the continuous training program.

3- For community: it increases the chances of health services
improvement and promotes the health of the community.

THE CONCEPT OF FAMILY MEDICINE

The family is the cornerstone of Egyptian society. The cornerstone
of Egypt’s new health care model is family medicine.

The family medicine team better serves clients with young
children with limited time and resources to travel to different places
because several family members can obtain different types of care during
one visit. Family medicine concept drives primary care reform Family
medicine is a unique model for providing up to date health services. It

includes health support and introduces preventive and curative
services. It also concentrates on raising health awareness and
strengthens the social participation role.

Purpose of family medicine

1. It ensures continuity and comprehensiveness in treatment and care
2. Family medicine forms strong relations between the doctors, the

individuals and the community.
3. It provides a physician for 600-800 families who is totally
responsible for their health.
4. It provides a well-trained physician technically and
administratively.

5. It provides a well-trained and well qualified nurses for the health
sector reform
6. It counts and numbers and makes records of them in family files.
7. It examines every member of the family.
8. It opens a file for every family which includes the history of the
disease for the individual and his family and a report of the social

and economic status of the family.
9. It sets up an information system using computers and creates an
effective data base of the community.
