A. Governmental Sector

This sector represents the main backbone of health system. Short
description of its entities will follow.

1. Ministry of health

MOH is the prime player in the heath sector at national and sub-
national levels; providing all levels of care (primary, secondary and
tertiary).

Function of MOH:

 Setting health policies

 Provision of health services

 Control of sanitary environment
2. Ministry of scientific research

3. Other ministries including ministry of interior

4. The Railway organization affiliated to ministry of Transportation &
Communication

5. Ministry of religious affaires

6. Ministry of defense

B. Para-statal Sector

1. Health Insurance organization (HIO)

2. Curative care organizations
3. Teaching Hospitals & Institutes organization (THI)

4. National Organization for Drug Control and Research (NODCAR).

5. General Organization for Sera and Vaccines (VACSERA)
