HEALTH SECTOR REFORM
Definition of health reform
Health reform means building on the strengths of the current health
system and rectifying the weaknesses to achieve public health care goals.
OR
It is building the new health care system on the strength of the
improving and modifying the weak part in order to achieve the general
health goals.
Objectives of Health Reform
Improve health status of population
Enhance equity and access
Assure financial protection
Increase macroeconomic and microeconomic efficiency
Enhance clinical effectiveness
Improve quality of care and consumer satisfaction
Principles of Health sector reform:
1- Comprehensive coverage: all Egyptian should enjoy the privileges
of the health services equally.
2- Equity and quality: all individuals have fair and equal shares of
health services, means that all discriminating factors between social
classes should be removed.
3- Effectiveness and efficiency: ensure the proper distribution of
human, financial resources and health establishments.
4- Quality, beneficiaries' satisfaction and service providers: good
performance, diagnosis, treatment and preparation of administrative
and technical careers and make these services get the most
satisfaction and trust of the society.
