41 May 2025 Abbott UK Company Car Handbook(who is certified by the BVRLA) and this will form the basis of any end of contract damage charges. The BVRLA trained inspector carrying out the full inspection may identify items of damage that have previously gone unnoticed. You can view the BVRLA%u2019s Standard of Fair Wear & Tear via Guide to returning your vehicle | Arval UK https://www.arval.co.uk/customer-support/guide-returning-your-vehicle2. I CANNOT SEE THE DAMAGE THAT I AM BEING CHARGED FOR CLEARLY IN THEIMAGESDigital images are provided as additional information to help illustrate the damage, where possible, not to substantiate the charge. The reason that the images are not provided to substantiate the charges is because not all damage can be accurately captured, distributed and shown in digital images. This can be due to paint colour, size of damage, location on the vehicle, lighting conditions, curved panels, maintaining perspective and image compression. Every effort has been made to ensure that the best possible image of the damage has been provided. All inspections are completed by a fully trained inspector and in strict adherence to the BVRLA%u2019s Standard for Fair Wear & Tear. You may sometimes see a tool or guide in an image, this is used to help identify damage. On the left one of these two examples (Image 1), a sheet of black and white lines, evenly spaced at 10mm, is held up against a dented panel and an image is taken of the panel reflecting these lines. A dent of deformation in the panel is seen more clearly in the image where the black andwhite lines are distorted in their reflection on the panel. In the other example here (Image 2), a ruler has been used to help determine the size of an item of damage. The rulers are always 17cm long and the markers are at 1cm intervals.Image 1 Image 23. I WOULD LIKE TO VIEW THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND CARRY OUT A SECONDINSPECTIONOnce the vehicle left your possession, it entered Arval%u2019s Remarketing channels and is therefore unavailable for further inspection or repair.4. THE CHARGES FOR THE DAMAGE ARE TOO HIGH AND I COULD HAVE REPAIRED THIS CHEAPER MYSELFThe charges that have been applied are in line with the age and mileage of your vehicle and are not designed to represent a repair that would return your vehicle to an %u201cas new%u201d standard. As such, they are generally lowerthan what any reputable insurance-approved or dealer-based bodyshop should charge for a professional repair. Not all damage is related to age and mileage but the age and mileage of your vehicle was taken into consideration when your vehicle was inspected.Abbott has reviewed and fully supports the charges that have been applied. If you, as the driver, wish tovalidate these charges for yourself, our recommendation is that you provide the inspection report to an insurance-approved or dealer-based bodyshop of your choice for an estimate of potential actual repair costs, for comparison purposes only. For example, you may wish to contact the dealership where you have been taking your vehicle for servicingand regular maintenance, as they may have a manufacturer-approved bodyshop on site. A bodyshop will notbe able to validate or give an opinion on what is or what is not fair wear and tear but, based on the descriptions of damage in the inspection report, as a guide they may tell you what they would charge to carry out the same repair.5. CAN I REPAIR THE VEHICLE THROUGH ABBOTT%u2019S INSURANCE?Once the vehicle left your possession, it entered Arval%u2019s Remarketing channels and is therefore unavailable for further inspection or repair. Any claims through insurance need to have been completed whilst you were still in possession of your vehicle.
