The heart of the city is a World Heritage site, with the Old Town%u2019s Royal Mile %u2013 where our hotel is located %u2013 and the New Town%u2019s award-winning Georgian architecture. A First Class rail journey to Aberdeen awaits on Day 2. On arrival there is some free time before our coach takes us to the city%u2019s Old Town, characterised by cobblestone streets and medieval architecture. Discover historic buildings, or soak up the culture at a traditional pub before a drive to our next hotel beside the River Dee.Day 3. The sights and flavours of Royal DeesideThis morning we head to the heart of Royal Deeside aboard the Royal Deeside Railway. On a heritage rail journey along the banks of the River Dee, we travel in restored vintage carriages on a short but scenic jaunt. In Banchory, we visit a Highland coo farm to meet a herd of pedigree Highland cattle, tour the premises, and have lunch in the rural setting. After time here, we drive to the Lost Loch Spirits Distillery which produces renowned gins. During a tour and tasting, we discover the stories, flavours, and branding that make it successful. On the way to our next hotel in Dundee, we stop outside Balmoral Castle, with a chance to take a photo at the royal estate%u2019s famous gates. We check in before dinner on our first night in the coastal city of Dundee. Days 4-5. Glamis Castle & homeward boundDay 4 begins with a guided walking tour of Dundee, seeing some of its striking architecture %u2013 including the V&A Dundee museum %u2013 beautiful parks and views of the River Tay. Our tour ends at The Dundee RRS Discovery where you can explore at leisure. We then board our coach to Glamis Castle, a historic fortress steeped in history and folklore. After an exclusive guided tour, we%u2019re taken into the 16th-century chambers for a %u2018wee dram%u2019 before continuing our tour, followed by refreshments and a talk. Tonight is the final evening meal of this exploration.
